With their world tour recently concluded, we are all patiently waiting for any announcements related to the release of the new album. The waiting game has began indeed. It’s been a year since 35XXXV and only one single out so far sure is killing us fans with excitement.
For now, I’m back with a Manila story coming from Chel! I bumped into her on IG (@chelleystip) after the concert, I think. Thank God for hashtags I was able to find interesting people who wants to share their love for ONE OK ROCK here. Looking back on our very late night interview session on Twitter a few months back, I think it became an excuse to vent my Pulp Royalty frustrations hahaha! Her ticket story is very entertaining and I am positive that it’s relatable for most of us.
When was the first time you d ONE OK ROCK and what song was it?
I first heard the song The Beginning after the Rurouni Kenshin movie : ) That was in August 2014. I wasn’t able to watch it in the cinema but I watched it in DVD before the movie Kyoto Inferno came out.
Ruroken 1 was shown 2013. So you only started following them almost 2 years ago?
Yup that’s correct. I got hooked by Taka’s voice. I started listening to their other songs after hearing Heartache.
What is your favourite OOR song and why?
I searched YouTube and preordered and bought their 35XXXV album in iTunes. Favorite song… hmmm… that’s a hard question.
C.H.A.O.S.M.Y.T.H. because the lyrics “dream as if you’ll live forever and live as if you’ll die today”. When I heard it, it stuck to me and kinda became my mantra.
Wherever You Are because it’s the perfect song for me and my fiancé (LDR). Hehe
Answer is Clear because I just loooove the melody. It totally gave a different feel to the song Answer is Near.
Those are my top 3. I guess it changes depending on my mood. Hahaha!
Collecting any OOR Memorabilia? So far, what do you have?
Well yes, I have two shirts from The Beginning tour which I wore to the concert (bought from Karupini Collectibles in FB). Those are the only official merch I have. Then I have OOR customized stickers as well.
Who is your favourite member and why?
Can it be both Taka and Toru? Lol. Taka’s voice really did it for me. He’s the main reason I became a fan of One Ok Rock. Then I noticed Toru and he kinda stole my heart from Taka. I chose VIP 2 side mainly because of Toru but during the concert I can’t seem to take my eyes off Taka. He has this awesome stage presence that made me almost forget about Toru. And my gosh…his voice! Ugh. But then Toru is like a demigod. He is so hot. Lol.
Can you say ONE OK ROCK has changed your life? How?
Hmmm… I can’t say if he did change my life but they made a big impact in my life. That I’m sure of. Like what I mentioned earlier… the line from C.H.A.O.S.M.Y.T.H. song “dream as if you’ll live forever and live as if you’ll die today”… It made me look at life in a different way. I try to enjoy what I can when I still can. To be honest, their concert was the first ever big concert that I attended. It was the height of my fangirling over OOR. If I had known how Pulp Royalty works I would’ve been in their office first thing in the morning of the first day it was sold. Hahaha
But I was new to all of that so yeah… I made sure I got the VIP ticket by hook or by crook. And I was willing to go alone. Buti na lang sinamahan ako ng friend ko. (It was nice that my friend came with me.)
What were your first expectations before the live and how did your ticket story go?
As for my ticket story… I sent an email to Pulp over the weekend then by Monday they replied, telling me it’s (PR) already sold out. So I made sure to get the VIP2 ticket no matter what happens. 9:30 am pa lang nasa labas na ako ng mall (As early as 9:30 am, I was already outside the mall) waiting for it to open.
Dahil nga first time ko pumunta ng concert, I thought kahit saang ticket booth pwede. So nasa carpark ako sa SM The Block. Pagka-open ng pinto, takbo ako. I saw other people na tumatakbo din.
(Since it’s my first time to attend a concert, I thought that any ticket booth will do. I was at the carpark of SM The Block. When the mall doors opened, I ran. I saw other people running as well.)
Lahat sila papunta din sa ticket counter sa main building, ako umakyat sa cinema sa The Block. Pagdating ko dun sabi sakin nung kuya dun, dun nga sa main building bilihan ng ticket.
(All of them are headed to the main building’s ticket counter while I went to the cinema of SM The Block. When I got there, the cashier told me tickets are being sold at the main building.)
Gusto ko sipain sarili ko nun hahaha! Anyway so takbo ako ulit pababa papunta sa main building at medyo mahaba na ang pila. Pero 10 minutes na hindi pa rin tapos transaction nung una sa line.
(I wanted to kick myself then hahaha! Anyway so I ran back all the way to the main building and the queue was long already. 10 minutes passed yet the person who was first in line still isn’t done with the transaction.)
So I tried my luck online. At thank God talaga maayos ang mobile connection ko that time at nakakuha ako ng VIP 2 ticket para sa amin ng friend ko. I stayed in line para kunin ang tix. Nagbbrowse ako sa Twitter and found out na sold out na ang VIP 1, 2, LB117 yata. It was like 20 minutes after they started selling the tickets!! Grabe!
(So I tried my luck online. Thank God my mobile connection was good and that I was able to purchase VIP 2 tickets for me and my friend. I stayed in line to get my tickets and browsed twitter and found out that VIP 1, 2 and Lower Box 117 got sold out. It was like 20 minutes after they started selling the tickets!!)
After nun umuwi na ko kasi nabasa ko na kelangan ng print out para makuha yun tix. Kinabukasan ko na kinuha sobrang antok na ako nun. Galing pa kasi ako sa work.
(After that I went home because I read that it requires a print out to claim my tix. I got them the following day because I was really sleepy that time. I just came from work before that.)
How about your expectations for the live? Were they met?
Actually, I didn’t know what to expect since it’s my first time. But basically I expected it to be so much fun… and it really was and so much more! It was surreal! One of the most awesome experience and definitely one of the most unforgettable and favourite night of my life.
Will you watch them live again and if yes, where do you want to watch them again?
I definitely will. I’d love to watch them here in Manila. Or Japan : )
OK lastly, any message for ONE OK ROCK if by chance they stumble upon this universe we call Love for 10969?
Thank you, One Ok Rock, foryour music. It’s your songs I turn to whenever I feel tired. Most of the time, your songs just make me wanna kick offmy shoes and dance and jump and sing along and forget all the things that are stressing me out. I am excited for your next album and hoping you’ll find yourselves back here in Manila where your eager fans (myself included) are waiting.
You are and always will be an inspiration to me and to a lot of people and while we, your fans, can only wish to keep you to ourselves (lol), we know your journey to your dreams is just beginning. We can only watch you spread your wings from afar, but rest assured that we will always be here to support you. I will be waiting for your return, along with all your awesome fans here in the Philippines. I wish you all the best in your career and as well as your own lives. Again, 心から、ありがとうございました！
That was a bit nostalgic, her ticket story. Don’t tell me you didn’t run for it like she did. 🙂
